Returning to Face-to-Face Piano Lessons

Updated: Jan 29, 2023

Principal piano teacher, Justin McKee of MJ Piano Lessons is excited to see that the NSW Government's 'Roadmap to freedom' could mean a return to face-to-face piano lessons as early as 11 October 2021.

As a COVID Safe registered business, MJ Piano Lessons is proactive about keeping its response to COVID in line with the government orders of the day.

While no date has been formalised, the government has been clear that freedoms will be offered to people who have been vaccinated. Justin McKee received his second pfizer vaccination 29 June 2021 and has his certificate displayed at his home teaching studio in preparation for students returning to face-to-face piano lessons.

Anyone that the NSW Government deems can return to face-to-face lessons would also have to meet these requirements when entering the home teaching studio:

  • Compulsory check-in with a QR code. More here.

  • Masks will be mandatory for anyone 12 years and older .

  • The piano keyboard and other high-touch surfaces will need to be cleaned in between lessons.

  • 1 person for 4sqm rule or a max of five people at any given time.

The NSW Government's Department of Education has published advice for families about returning to face-to-face learning at schools here.

Fun fact: "Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benatar was titled after she had a pillow fight in a therapy session. Click here to listen to that classic song released in 1980!
